Our Work

Transforming Lives: Research & Impact

ASAP is a global network dedicated to leveraging academic expertise to combat poverty worldwide. Our impact spans multiple continents, disciplines, and initiatives, all united by a common goal: to create meaningful change in the lives of those affected by poverty.

Our Global Reach

ASAP's strength lies in its diverse network of over 18 established and emerging Chapters around the world. We support and connect these Chapters, empowering local academics and researchers to address poverty-related issues specific to their regions.

Research and Projects

Research and Projects

ASAP research projects connect chapter networks, early-career researchers, and public-facing scholarship so evidence can shape institutional reform and poverty policy.

Linking Academics and Researchers

The Global Colleagues project matches early career researchers in the Global South with more senior researchers at well-resourced universities in the Global North or South. Over a year, they form a partnership and develop activities tailored to the research goals of the pairing.

Impact Interviews

Impact Interviews share information and best practices from academic efforts to influence poverty policy and civil society around the world. The series combines interviews and articles that explore how academics achieve positive impact through research, advocacy, and on-the-ground interventions.

Institutional Reform Goals (IRG)

IRG is an ambitious research and advocacy project that aims to reform the global institutions and regulations that perpetuate poverty, with linked focus areas including illicit financial flows, trade, debt, migration, labor standards, and climate change.

Global Health Initiatives

Health Impact Fund (HIF)

Health Impact Fund (HIF) incentivizes the development of new medicines for the global poor.

HIF proposes a new way to pay for the development and delivery of pharmaceutical innovation. Pharmaceutical firms can register new medicines with HIF and agree to provide them at cost anywhere they are needed. Instead of profiting through drug sales, they are rewarded based on the global health impact of their drug.

  • Pharmaceutical firms can register new medicines and provide them at cost where they are needed.
  • Rewards are tied to measured global health impact rather than drug sales.
  • Led by ASAP President Thomas Pogge and economist Aidan Hollis.
