ASAP UK has recently written an ambitious new strategic plan that leverages the UK\’s position as a thought leader in the field of development, its centrality in global finance, and its rich cultural diversity to advance ASAP\’s global mission of enhancing academic impact on poverty. Plan highlights include a research focus on illicit financial flows, a UK Party Manifesto Poverty Audit (following the success of ASAP Oceania\’s audit of Australian party platforms and budgets), and piloting outreach training and support to academics to engage with advocacy NGOs and policy makers.
To carry out this plan, ASAP UK is seeking support from four committed interns to help develop the chapter over the next twelve months. These interns will work in the areas of fundraising, social media and website, membership and engagement, and strategy and admin, respectively. Any individual is welcome to apply but preference will be given to those based in the UK.
Descriptions of the roles are provided below. To apply, write to Chapter Coordinator Steph Eldridge at academicsstandUK@gmail.com by Wednesday, September 24 with a short statement of interest and a brief description of your qualifications. Please be sure to state which of the intern roles you would like to take on, and use the subject line Intern.
Please note that these internships are unpaid.
